Nimbuzz (free) has just updated its iPhone and iPod touch app adding more VoIP options, a dial-pad and the ability to make VoIP calls to landlines and cell phones via SkypeOut or Nimbuzz' VoIP other partners. Nimbuzz also has a feature to use VoIP calls without a WiFi connection in more than 50 countries (uses cell minutes). Second generation iPod touch owners can also use Nimbuzz to make SkypeOut calls with a microphone headset.
Other new features include Twitter status updates within the Personal Message feature, the ability to add new buddies on various instant messaging services, support for MobileMe user names with a dot, and various other usability and stability improvements.
I downloaded this update and tried it out making several SkypeOut calls to landline phones and even calls in both directions using Skype to Skype. The sound quality was quite decent. Since this is a free download go and try it yourself.
